Photomatix Pro Installation Instructions

Installing Photomatix Pro is simple and straightforward. Should you have any difficulty, read through this file to make sure you are following the right procedures, then take a look at the Troubleshooting section.

If you have Lightroom, you will benefit from installing the Lightroom Plug-in, "Export to Photomatix Pro". This Plug-in allows you to export bracketed photos from Lightroom to process in Photomatix Pro, and allows you to automatically re-import them back into Lightroom.

Don't forget to look at the sample images on this CD. They will help you understand the basics of HDR photography and get you started working with Photomatix Pro.

Installation

The Photomatix Pro start page should automatically launch after you insert the CD. To install Photomatix Pro, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Install Photomatix Pro link.
  2. Follow the installation wizard instructions.

You will have the option of installing the Lightroom Export Plug-in before finishing. If necesssary, restart Lightroom afterwards so that it recognizes the Plug-in.

Registration

After installing, you will be asked to register Photomatix Pro. You may continue without registering, but a watermark will be applied to the processed images. You will be asked to register each time you run the program until you complete the form.

To register, follow these steps:

  1. Launch Photomatix Pro.
  2. Enter your serial number in the appropriate fields.
  3. Press Register.

Lightroom Export Plug-in

You will be prompted to install the Lightroom Export Plug-in during the installation routine for Photomatix Pro. When asked, Check Yes, install the Lightroom Export Plug-in too to install the Plug-in.

If you choose not to, you may re-run the Photomatix Pro installer later to install the Plug-in.

To use the Lightroom Export Plug-in, follow these steps:

  1. Select bracketed image files from the Lightroom Filmstrip or Grid.
  2. Choose File > Plug-in Extras > Export to Photomatix Pro.
  3. Choose your export options, then press Export.

Note: If you choose to Automatically re-import into Lightroom, check that "All Photographs" shows above the Lightroom filmstrip. If you see "Previous Import", right-click it and select "All Photographs" instead.

To remove the Plug-in, uninstall Photomatix Pro and then reinstall without the Plug-in.

Troubleshooting

If the Photomatix Pro start page does not appear when you insert the CD:

  1. Browse to the CD using Windows Explorer and double-click PhotomatixPro313.exe.
  2. Click on the "Run" button when prompted then follow the installation wizard.

If you get any of the following messages when trying to run Photomatix Pro...

... it is likely you have a problem with your Microsoft .NET installation. To resolve the problem, uninstall your existing Photomatix Pro installation and install this version, PhotomatixPro313embed.exe. It is identical to the default installation except that it embeds the .NET framework. It is located in the root directory of the CD.
